can’t get out of bed

hard peanut butter

on a soft slice of bread

bubble gum is juicy

till the chewing starts

to hurt your teeth

a band-aid helps with that part

of your shoe that keeps rubbing

on your feet

there’s always friction

around certain people

then some you just can’t be away from

you’ve got your mother’s eyes

yet look just like your father

tall dancers with long hair

twirl and twirl and twirl

you can’t help but want to watch them

while you think about being a girl

long grass in the neighbor’s driveway

is against the rules of the community

that tries to profit off of the unappealing

3rd period Hall Pass

you are always late

street racing with dread

take the garbage out

you are always forgetting

where did you leave your keys

time to go to work

you need to move things all around

sort and file

this is a game you are required to play

better take things seriously

decisions, decisions, decisions

finally, it is time to go home

balance your checking account

file your taxes

give yourself a break

go on vacation

somewhere off the beaten path

be grateful

there's no place like home

everyone’s dressed up for church

born again, worshipped
