sacred space
string together your worries
with beads, little round wooden ones,
with a string made of twine
pushed through their insides
chant my name while you burn sage and incense
leaving smokey little swirls as you take your rosary
from the mother of pearl shell that I gave you
“hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with thee”
place her over the door and leave her there
this is where your soul can remember
“blessed art thou among women”
you can pray in the sunlight here
while you talk to the spirits inside of the labyrinth
you made in the garden with the stones we collected
you can dance when the rooms go dark
light your little vanilla candles and steep earl grey tea
inside of our favorite cups we made with clay
there is not anything to fear here
there is no one to tear you down
you are a creator, the created one,
a piece of art in your own way
you were molded from the mud of the cosmic afterlife
that made me too
you are safe in this space of space
just because of your light
the memories waiting to be made here
are sacred and already fill the air with excitement
your mind can be quiet here
“mother of God, pray for us”
because of you
this is a sanctuary
