Venus dreams,
while Mercury
lies in retrograde,
that she can
get it all back.
Dancing for an era
whirling around space
spinning stars
in the sun’s face,
she’s hoping
it’s her turn
to get out
of this place.
She’s been in the shadows
floating in inky lagoons
waiting for the light.
All dressed
in black
hoping heaven will
open up
take her back,
put her up
on a golden throne.
Take her heart
the spinning one,
take them both away.
All she sees is time
turning her into a grave
while Saturn and Jupiter
beg her to stay.
Catching feelings
after seeing how she moves
through the seasons
like some kind of cosmic witch.
They think that all witches
do is cast spells
and use their charms
to delude them.
She must be a sorceress because
she's not afraid of monsters, or fighting her way out of hell.
She imagines what could be
on the other side
of everything.
They’ve been dancing around the same
space junk asteroid belts,
snakes
tying the tides
that hold their harems
of moons in place.
She holds a space
that takes it all
down a black hole.
For now she is still caged between her patterns,
what she believes in,
and what she can see in her dreams.
